no memory and the impossibility to use all the features at once (which is addressed by the sidecar I believe, although I don't use): I quickly realised that it was all for the best since it made me work and think rather than rely on easy solutions.Loopy HD 1.4 and Loopy 2.5 Bring Reverse and Decay Loopy HD on 50% sale I actually even like the 'downsides', i.e. Even the "bad delivery" episode turned out good since it made me interact with Mike rather than with a company or its customer service, which is just an another illustration of why buying this kind of things feels good. Great sound, great features, no useless feature, great service. In the meantime, he was most understanding and great to communicate with.Īnyway, I've got nothing bad to say about this. It turned out that the repairs were **** (very disappointing from Germans I got to say!): no problem, Mike sent a new one before I sent mine back (oh the irony: sending a Boomerang back.). He arranged for repairs in Europe which was way quicker that sending back the pedal to Texas. Mike has then been more than helpful in order to come up with the quickest solution. When I ordered mine, it arrived with a broken knob because of (very) poor handling between the US and the UK (the box was actually smashed). no ****** backing tracks as I believe some BOSS loopers do) once again, this makes me think that someone actually thought this through.īest of all, you've actually got someone behind all this. Even better: it hasn't got anything I wouldn't want to use (e.g. I bought mine a year ago and have only had good times with it since then: it sounds as awesome as everyone says, it's very intuitive and easy to use and the functionalities really feel like someone that actually uses loopers sat down and asked himself 'OK, what is the pedal I want?'. I too can only say good things about the Boomerang III (which will definitely do what the guy in the beginning was asking about). The VDL has the expression pedal but the lil looper has the loop volume option. Fade out, finally a nice way out of your loop instead of trying to time everything perfectly to end your solo and hit the last chord at the same time you end the loop. The other nice options are the loop effects. I'm really looking fwd to the bass effect too. For live performances, any song that requires more than 90 seconds of loop time is really asking a lot of your crowd. I'm looking at replacing it with one of the vox pedals. Realtime adjustments which made for some really crazy solos. You can't do a full blues loop but was was good for any pop song. You could overdub forever but only 1 phrase and only 20 seconds. Every time you needed a loop you had to start fresh. Instead of the tap-record/tap-stop record it was a "Hold down to record and release to stop. I loved that pedal because of the way it recorded. By the way, I had a lot of reservations regarding lack of storage and built in drums on Boomerang 3 but ended up pulling the trigger anyway because I wanted to believe the reviews that stated that the things this looper does well mostly make up for those few deficiencies - and those reports were absolutely correct (as far as sound quality goes this is the first looper I have played with that does not color the tone at all).Īlso, when I watched the Boomerang 3 youtube videos created by Mike Nelson (Boomerang designer), it seemed to me that he pretty much designed the looper that he himself wanted to have and use - those types of approaches usually produce high quality/usability devices, and this coupled with the fact that the devices are all built in Texas, USA only added to the overall good feeling when I was making this expensive purchase (although I paid even more for Boss RC-50 back a few years ago I did not get this level of satisfaction about that purchase). I just purchased Boomerang 3 a few weeks ago and it by far the best and most fun guitar related purchase I have made so far. I have had both Boss RC-2 and RC-50 for several years now and while they are ok they are not on the same planet with Boomerang 3 in terms of usability and/or sound quality.
